While We Were Away...
For the last few days while Hashhu was on vacation terrible news came to light.
The coder who was making the files for Captain, Coolsat & Viewsat became known to everyone... Phillip Allison of Seminole, Florida... and in the court documents he has admitted making and selling the bin files to Freetech aka Coolsat and Viewtech aka Viewsat. Echostar needed to prove a connection between the receiver makers and the pirate bin files and they have so its all downhill for Freetech & Viewrech from this point on. They will be making whatever settlement arrangements they can work out and they will be gone. No way to get out when somebody gives you up. They also have proof this guy was sending the files to completefta.com and f2fta.com with instructions to post them. Anybody that can be tied to this guy is done for because he has given up everyone it looks like. The current documents don't show any other websites but DISH may be keeping some of their investigations secret and we may find out some more names as time goes on. The only surprise in the documents was that Allison stated in a communication that they had a software method to make Viewsat receivers work on Nagra's new system - it is not indicated if this was the add-on dongle for iks or the 'card' fix but most likely this guy would have gotten something to work. So much for 'his' Nagra 3 fix. UPDATE: Information is now available that a Neosat/K-Box coder has also been arrested - which makes sense as there is a connection to Coolsat and this investigation has been on-going for more than a year - however I haven't been able to confirm if this is true yet. |
I hate snitches.....at least we know his name. Does this meen no more ViewSat files...assuming they're needed from now till N3 is completed?

funny how after he supposedly confessed and gave up info , he released fix friday night. something fishy going on.
|
Huh?
Quote:
All of his stuff was seized a while back and he hasn't been doing the fixes for some time so what are you talking about. |

I think what Claydock is saying "did this happen while hashu was down"? It sounded like this just happened in the last couple of days. When was his stuff seized? |
Very sad news...
I get to watch TV, he gets to eat soggy peas in jail, I am very very sorry. That was stupid that he wasn't protected better.

That is great news, one can only hope that information will be disseminated. |
i think there is a rat in the wood pile here

Found this on ftapeople
Here's a C/P from over there: RE: Phillip Allison- "TheBroken" fined $500,000 PDF file One guy writes "That explains everything quite clearly !" The Reply: "Oh it might explain things clearly to you, but it's way more than foggy to everyone else. The final judgement is clear about the fact he either surrendered his computer or had it confiscated. That means chuckie has the source coding on a lot of fta's, not to mention brokies current N2 emu. What's really funny is that the final judgement was for 500K, but it was rumoured back in January that brokie was trying to sell a fully working N3/dave emu for fta's at a cool tune of 750K. To further the rumour even more it was hinted that at least 3 manufactures of FTA had combined resources to purchase that emu for their brand. Chuckie is surely chasing the purported sale of that emu and those buyers. It's the only sensible reason that chuckie settled so cheap and quick with brokie. They wanted that N3/Dave emu (if it did in fact exsist), the OEM src code for a lot of major fta's, and his contact list. The stuff has only begun to hit the fan on this one." The Next guy says: I think if everyone took the time to do a little research like I did you would find that this is one nasty hoax, the only thing that is real on the documents is the judge and lawyers that are listed. Search all the court actions and there is no actions against this indevidual, there are some cases that involve DN but no referrence to the person named in the judgment documents. Well here is a site you can go to and search all cases before the courts hxxp://www.justia.com" I could not find any filings against a Phillip Allison in the US District Court for Middle District of Florida. I did however find several filings by DN. I also thought the filing and ruling in this case was extremely fast, less than 30 days as compared to others. I also find it interesting that the sites they mentioned were ones that went down, why are all the other sites still up. Something about this whole thing smells of a hoax to me. It a hell of a hoax - take a look around and you will see . And then one of the moderators says "I'd like to remind everyone to read the fucking site rules...the type of language (ass and shit as in "that really burns my ass having someone show up at your door to take your shit") being used here is not apropriate, thanks." |
if this is true, how does one explain this weekends fix.
|
It doesn't mean there is a "One and Only Coder". There are a lot of smart people out there. I'm sure this guy initially had other smart people that contributed information or helped that could also code as well.
|
Yep, agreed. There has to be multiple coders out there, why else do you think Sonicview stb's have been running the same fix since January?
I'm not sure how much of this to believe either, we'll just have to sit and wait to see how it all plays out. The worst thing in my opinion would be if Chuckie has the actual source for the stb's, that'll make his ability to code ECM's waaay easier from this point on. The game should prove to be quite interesting from all perspective's now....! |

I agree with Alman - there is no sense getting worked up over this until we see how it plays out. I'm no lawyer but I doubt that the court would order viewsat or coolsat to turn over their code. Also, I googled the guys name and nothing useful comes up. That suggest to me that this isn't a big deal. But what do i know? |

hmmmmmmmmmmm Great excuse for a WHOLE new line of receivers for n3 and providing a new line of revenue for the FTA manufacturers!!!!!!!!!!! |
