Alot of people saying some very important things here and you are all correct one way or another.. Let me throw in my 1.5 cents and glue a bit together and share what I know.. Someone posted that many boxes are the same and distributed with different names.. That is correct. There are many manufacturers that make core components and make them available to others. The basic design of these units is similar. Basically they are single chip Sat recievers. Look at like a glass. The all are made to hold water but can look different and be made of different materials but essentially they are all the same. No reason why a manufacturer couldn't share a mold with another..
Some one mentioned the legal aspect of the boxes and major mistakes were made.. Thats true.. The balls are swinging low and heavy as many manufacturers were very bold in there reciever features. As a customer I can easily see how the law is being infringed on so we can naturally assume that they aren't dumb and simply tempted fate with complete awareness. Why not.. after all blunt and blind is the path of the law and corporate progress. The shear fact you can drive around and see hundreds of easily pinpointed illegal dishes says it all.. The judge allowed SV to continue and restricted E from their request because it would effectively put them out of business and they do sell some legal products but more there are people with families that aren't guilty for having a job and that would put many out of work and in distress and thats not fair.. Its the bigger picture.. IKS is a very bold and in your face illegal process. All of this really is so we should simply resign our selves to this and stop looking at symantics to try and call it legal... I still believe it to be a viable crowbar to force providers to improve product and keep pricing reasonable. In my heart I think that the law and business know that but can't directly say that.. As individuals everyone sees the corporate crap but as an entity corps have maniacal direction. Its not about whats right its about what can be proven. As the saying goes there is more than one way to skin the cat and its suicide to fight sat providers directly using the law and business.. Thats similar to the US fight with terrorism.. All the high tech doesn't mean squat against sheer human determination. The next fight will be the hardware and what it represents.. I think you will find that the courts will change the way tech can be introduced to the masses over prosecution of individuals. You can't make people be honest but you can control temptation. Listen to the geek.. He is absolutely right alll the way down the line. |
