Cannot play movie
What would make one movie different from others, I use the same burning utilities, down loading sites, computer and dvd players but I cannot get this one movie to work on 2 out of the 3 DVD players in the house. I have burned a few movies and never had this problem, I have even down loaded the movie a few times from different sites but still the same. I can play the movie on the computer and on the oldest DVD player but not the other 2, I am just confused why so far only this movie acts like this.

I will pick up a DVD+ and try it but my experience is they are less likely to work on most players. It is not so much the need for the movie but more the why this one doesn't work, it is a kids movie Ice Age 3. I have used convertx and mostly Nero 7.

Oddly enough, not all avi movies are created equal. Depending on the codec used, some players may not be compatible with it. Most will, but there are those few that need to be re-converted to a more generic codec, for it to play. Most converters already have the more common formats preset.

OK I have never had much luck with DVD+r blanks but I tried and it didn't work so I tried another movie to make sure but that one did work, so back to the drawing board. Now from what I have read the PAL setting is the most common and will work on almost all players and that is what I always use but for some reason this Ice Age 3 asks which one I want to use so I tried the NTSC and finally it worked. So now with that being said which one should be used or like in this case it kind of depends on the movie?

Depends where your from. Europe and Asia are PAL standard. North America is NTSC. So if you live in N.A., it would explain why PAL format is working on your DVD player. Use NTSC in this case. But if you live in the UK or Asia, and NTSC works for you, then just keep using it. Curious are you downloading a DVD rip (with a VIDEO_TS folder) and burning it on to a DVD? Or are you buring AVI file to a DVD, or converting AVI file to a DVD (VIDEO_TS) format?
